01 / WHY PACIFIC SCHOLARS

Why Pacific Scholars?

Personally Matched Tutors

At Pacific Scholars, finding the right tutor begins with understanding the student. Before assigning a tutor, founder Roxanne Rahimi personally meets with the student and/or parent to discuss their academic background, current challenges, goals, and what they hope to accomplish through tutoring. Based on this conversation, we recommend a tutor whose academic strengths and teaching approach align with the student’s needs.

Individualized Academic Support

No two students come to tutoring with exactly the same goals. Some need consistent support in a challenging class, others want to strengthen their foundations, prepare for an AP exam, pursue advanced material, or develop stronger problem-solving skills. Our tutoring spans multiple STEM disciplines and supports students both inside and outside the classroom. We adapt instruction and recommend a meeting frequency based on each student’s academic goals, rather than requiring everyone to follow the same program.

Progress Beyond the Session

We believe meaningful improvement requires more than the time spent in a tutoring session. Tutors may assign practice problems and homework to reinforce concepts, and students are encouraged to stay engaged with their work throughout the week. We provide check-ins between sessions when appropriate and encourage students to reach out with clarifying questions rather than waiting until their next meeting. Our goal is to help students develop independent understanding and consistent academic habits, not simply complete assignments during tutoring.

02 / HOW IT WORKS

From the first conversation to consistent support.

No automatic matching or complicated scheduling. We personally review each inquiry and arrange the details with your family.

01. Tell Us About Your Student

Complete a short inquiry form describing the student’s courses, academic challenges, goals, location, and availability.

02. Meet With Roxanne

Before matching the student with a tutor, Roxanne personally meets with the student and/or parent to better understand their needs and determine what kind of academic support would be most beneficial.

03. Find Your Tutor

We recommend an appropriate tutor based on the student’s goals, subject, and individual learning needs. Tutoring schedules are flexible. Some students benefit from three sessions per week, while others may need biweekly support or occasional sessions before major exams. We help recommend a frequency based on the student’s goals, academic workload, and circumstances.

04. Learn With Consistent Support

Students receive individualized instruction, recommended practice, and opportunities to ask clarifying questions between sessions.

03 / WHAT WE TEACH

STEM support, from foundations to college.

Mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology, from foundational courses through AP and introductory college coursework. Subject availability depends on each tutor’s qualifications; not every tutor teaches every subject.

04 / PRIVATE TUTORING

Private tutoring at $45 an hour

One-on-one instruction. A personally matched tutor. Support shaped around your student’s course and goals.
